Hannah's Heroes of NC

In 2019, the family and friends of Hannah Cuthrell established the Hannah’s Heroes of NC non-profit foundation in her memory.

Hannah's Story

Hannah Cuthrell was a 10 year old little girl that tried a bit of everything, all the while spreading kindness through her smiles and her friendships. Born and raised in eastern NC, Hannah died in a car accident on her way to school in 2017.

In her short 10 years, Hannah had many interests and was able to explore a great deal of them. She was active in sports, always working on her next craft, and worked hard in school. Through the beauty of Hannah’s life, Hannah’s Heroes of NC recognizes and values the importance of exploring interests, nurturing growth, and instilling confidence in children of all ages.

Her friends started the hashtag #BeaHannah immediately after they lost her. Hannah's Heroes of NC decided to keep it going. She started that last school year labeling all her notebooks with a Hannah heart- you will often see her signature on our Hannah gear- her final mark here with us. Purple was her favorite color and her favorite shirt said, “Be Kind Be Proud Be You” . Hannah's heart logo is an outline of her dancing in the rain- her forever reminder for all of us to dance in the rain when given the chance- and smile big when our confidence soars.

Every year on Hannah’s birthday, we honor Hannah’s life by spreading some love and kindness on June 8th. For our 2nd Annual #BeaHannah Day, Hannah’s Heroes of NC baked, decorated, and delivered over 600 cupcakes across NC!!!!! With your help, we spread kindness and appreciation to first responders, police, and teachers through cupcakes and random acts of kindness. Thank you for being the hands and feet for Hannah’s Heroes. And thank you, Ivy Bagley for capturing part of decorating fun and for helping us spread some smiles and kindness. #Beahannah

Through your generous support with #BeaHannah t-shirt sales, Hannah’s Heroes raise money for the Art and Education funds at GR Whitfield School and Washington Montessori Public Charter School. Thank you to Low Ten Outfitters for partnering with us to make this happen! The donated funds provides art supplies and helps kids at both schools explore their interests and build confidence in their abilities.
